Our Pledge to Trustees: In creating and airing this show, we will follow Helen Parkhurst ABC Radio Show’s procedure, philosophy and intent as much as possible the Primary adjustment being Silver City is not New York City and it is not 1951. We recognize it is not enough to just do the live show, all along, we will also be writing a book to be published after two or three seasons. This book will document our experience to be shared with parents and teacher just as Helen Parkhurst did in 1951 with the publication of her, ‘Exploring The Child’s World’.
Need for Funds: To do this well takes more than volunteer hours. Staff needs to be paid to keep the intensity and quality of the work going. Thus, our need to raise 100K for the first two years to put on the show and to Archive raw materials for the writing of our book at the end of the 3rd season.
Founding Trustees: We need a few trustees to provide seed money to launch our show for the first season and to broadcast a 2nd season. Our show emulates Helen Parkhurst’s ABC radio of 1947-51. We need to raise 100K our to do quality broadcasts for two seasons and work towards a book publication. A minimum of a $5,000 is requested to be considered one of our founding trustees. After reaching our goal the campaign will be closed and no more founding trustees will be listed. Founding Trustees will be honored in preface of our book. The money donated will be collected by Rising Tide International, a 501 c3 non profit that will pass it through to the project headed by me for which Rising Tide takes a 5% pass through fee.
Dear Trustees: As strange as it may seem it is not just the money that matters to us. To have people of vision and high ideals support our work, it affirms in our own eyes, the importance at this time of rebirthing Parkhurst’s original radio show and publishing a similar book. Our plan is, as we go along, is discuss and select the most interesting themes and children quotes of each broadcast and later use them to write the book.
When Is The Seed Money Needed: We recognize it is difficult to lend support to something that has not yet started, but still perhaps you can see the worth of supporting it right from the beginning even without seeing any results, so by all means lend your support now. But we can manage to Live Broadcast the four Saturdays in September without monetary support right now. After those initial broadcasts, we will post an interim progress report below along with our current support totals. * Normally, we send our trustees progress report every quarter. In these reports we share some of the occurrences that are likely to be in the book.
